Philosophy & Approach

I have been a practicing therapist since 2014, working in a range of settings from community mental health, schools, prison, telehealth, and hospitals, as well as private practice. I strive to customize my approach to the particular needs of the person in front of me.

I am primarily trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I am a Clinically Certified Trauma Therapist and implement Somatic Therapy in my approach. I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I believe the most effective therapy is guided by the primary needs of the client and utilizes the client's natural strengths and interests in order to make progress. My therapeutic approach is holistic, friendly, warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental; my sense of humor helps clients to feel at ease.

I adhere to the Codes of Ethics set forth by the American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, and the American Mental Health Counselors Association, as well as by the relevant states in which I am licensed. To maintain my license, I am required to participate in continuing education, taking classes dealing with subjects relevant to this profession.

Formal Education & Training

I hold a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. Major course work included human growth and development, trauma training, ethical development, and application of various theoretical orientations.

Fees

My self pay rate is $175 for a standard clinical hour. I am able to accept several major insurances, including Aetna, Cigna, Baycare, and Optum.
